A century of history in upholstery and design in Trieste: the culture of living by Zinelli&Perizzi

Nino Perizzi
Tullio Perizzi
1920/1930

In 1927, the Saturnia, the largest and most luxurious liner in the world, set sail from Trieste: its rooms were rich with the craftsmanship of Giovanni Perizzi, a highly respected upholsterer and furnisher from Trieste.

1945

In 1945, Giovanni Perizzi’s sons, Nino and Tullio, opened the first Perizzi store in Trieste, together with Rubelli, a renowned Venetian textile firm.

1950/1960

1959: The new flagship store in Via San Nicolò opened under the name of Zinelli&Perizzi, with Venetian Zinelli representing the best in home textiles.

1970

1970s: Zinelli&Perizzi designed the grand hotels in the CIGA Hotels chain (including the Excelsior in Via Veneto in Rome), and the Hotel Gritti and the Danieli in Venice. This was the era of grand designs and grand collaborations with renowned architects.

1980

In the 80s, the Zinelli&Perizzi brand was the height of luxury among the Italian jet-set: from Cortina to the Costa Smeralda, the most beautiful houses in Italy opened their doors to the elegance and design culture of Zinelli&Perizzi projects.

1990

In the 90s, the era of the great cruise ships was revived with a collaboration with Fincantieri: Crown Princess, Star Princess, the Disney fleet… This boost, following the sad loss of Nino Perizzi in 1995, brought major change to the company’s management: alongside Nino’s brother Tullio, a team of professionals was brought in, which over the years has contributed to the brand’s prestige.

2000/2017

The continued growth in prestige of the Zinelli&Perizzi brand in the new millennium led to the opening in 2009 of the SPAZIOCAVANA showroom, a temple of design in the historical centre of Trieste. This was followed by SPAZIOCABOTO, opened in 2013 next to the Upholstery workshops and strategically located along the main streets of the city.

In recent years, MARINEDIVISION has continued its international experience in the Cruise Ship sector, also specialising in turnkey furnishing services for boats and yachts and refitting luxury private vessels. The brand’s long-standing experience and international reliability are also well established in the contract hotel sector.

In 2011, when the company sadly said its final farewell to Tullio Perizzi, it regrouped under this prestigious family name to relaunch its grand tradition, with a professional maturity ready to take on new challenges in the world of design.

In 2017, the Zinelli&Perizzi team forged ahead with a renewed spirit of innovation and celebrated 90 years of business, looking ahead to the challenges of the future with optimism.

2022 &…
